Gil Semedo was born on October 25th 1974 on the Cape Verdean island Santiago, but at the age of six, he already migrated to the Netherlands, where he’s still living today.

Gil Semedo established a wonderful career as singer, composer and entertainer. He called his sound: ‘Caboswing’, swinging Cape Verdean pop music.
Since 1991, Gil has been releasing albums. His platinum and gold albums with countless super hits like: Sweet Honey, Maria Julia, Nos lider, Moda bitchu etc, have sold over 500.000 copies. Many people are inspired by his exhilarating music and followed the path chosen by him. This earns Semedo the nickname: ‘ The Cape Verdean King of Pop’.
In 2008, ‘Semedo’ once again shows the kind of pioneer that he is, and with his album ‘Cabopop’ He demonstrates how versatile the Cape Verdean pop music is as a style of music by also embracing the traditional acoustic music. The last year of this decade, Gil Semedo decides to organize a series of concerts as of December 2009, to close the first chapter of his 18 year career, the number that symbolizes maturity. These concerts aim to reflect all 18 years of his career through image and sound. During this concerts, he will bring a tribute to his, now deceased, idol Michael Jackson. In addition, beautiful remixes of his unforgettable hits will be provided for free on the Internet during this period. With this, the star will close this first chapter in a festive manner and prepare his audience for the new chapter.
